Change of plans we are doing the Grand Adventure in reverse order. Starting in New Zealand in December.
March 7, 2013
We plan to start in England and cycle from Land’s End (Cornwall) to John O’Groats (Scotland).
After visiting my family in Nottingham and Gloucestershire, we will continue cycling to Portsmouth where we travel by ferry to France. The route will then follow the coast of Europe: France, Spain, Portugal, Spain, France, Italy and Greece. From Greece we will travel through Turkey and by ferry to Cyprus. We will spend a couple of weeks with my sister while getting our visas for Russia and China.
From Cyprus we will cycle through Eastern Europe – Bulgaria, Romania, Austria and Czech Republic. From the Czech Republic we will cycle into Germany and visit Ralf’s family.
We will then pack our bicycles in to bike bags and travel to St. Petersburg by train. We will pick up the G. Adventure trip which will take us on the Siberian Railway, stopping in Mongolia and onto Beijing. Again in China we will take an organized trip.
After leaving China (again by train) we will cycle through Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand and onto Malaysia.
From Singapore we will fly to New Zealand and cycle the North and South Islands. Then onto Australia. My nephew lives in Brisbane, so we plan to cycle from Melbourne to Brisbane and then fly back to Canada
Our final bike ride will be across Canada – coast to coast.
